I just received a phone call from a teacher in Seattle.
He told me that the superintendent of the Seattle Public School system is releasing a letter that is going to be read aloud at mandatory faculty meetings today. This letter, I’m told, is going to inform teachers that they if they do not administer the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test, they can be suspended for 10 days without pay.
The superintendent is teaching a lesson!
AIM: Teachers will learn that if they act according to their conscience as educators, I will punish them.
Stay tuned for more details. In the meantime, if you support the MAP test boycott and that think it’s wrong for the superintendent to punish these teachers, let him know:
